Bringing a little joy into the office

It’s fast coming up to Thanksgiving, and although that doesn’t mean as much to us little old Kiwis as it does to the Yanks, it’s still a nice tradition. Taking time out to count your blessings is something that we like to do here at Intelligent Ink. We don’t do the roast turkey, but we do have something called a “jar of joy.”

Our jar of joy is in fact just a regular glass jar that we get to fill throughout the month with little notes about things that made us happy. Whenever one of the ladies screams out “YMCA got a double page spread in NZ Business Magazine,” we reply “put it in the jar of joy!” Did we pull off a big event seamlessly? Or did a newsletter get a really high open rate? Write that down, stick it in the jar of joy.

By the end of every month, our jar of joy is filled up to the brim. Then on the first Monday morning meeting of the new month, we dump all of the messages onto the meeting tables and read the messages aloud.

It makes us happy and keeps us motivated. So, what do we have in our jar of joy currently? Here are a few of the highlights:

Interviewing Jimi Hunt

jimiChristina and Jenny have been busy on several content marketing pieces leading up to the end of the year. One such piece had a focus on New Year’s resolutions, so we caught up with Jimi Hunt, who was the perfect fit for an article about ‘Living More Awesome’.

If you’re not already familiar with Jimi, he’s the fellow who paddled down the Waikato River on a flimsy lilo, and he’s also the guy who built the world’s largest waterslide. With some ridculous goals already under his belt, Jimi certainly had us feeling inspired and we had a whole lot of fun writing his feature.

Marieke’s birthday

Alzheimers Auckland

Verity has been busy taking over the marketing manager role at Alzheimers Auckland. Alzheimers Auckland are a new client, but already she has helped organise several events that have raised thousands of dollars for people with dementia.

KiaOra Inflight Magazine

We were excited to find that the editor of KiaOra Inflight Magazine (that magazine that sits in the front chair pocket on the plane) was very keen to publish SeeChange products in the next issue. SeeChange is one of our newer clients, and we’re thrilled that their products will be reaching such a wide, and international audience.

On a more personal note, when Sarah was working in her last role, getting into KiaOra Magazine was the ever-elusive goal. So to finally achieve that at Intelligent Ink is a real mark of success!

A bit different from what we usually do, last week the whole Intelligent Ink team got together to solve a murder! We organised a New Orleans murder mystery night, which everyone turned up to in costume. Logan, ever the competitive spirit, wrote down every clue on the white board, and after thoroughly reviewing the evidence, figured out who the murderer was (while wearing a dashing French maid outfit, to boot)!
